because a robot, when it falls, will crash down and break. when robots fall they figured out that if they need to fall like cats. they need to perfect its landing by making the robot know how and where to land, and also able to turn its body mid air.

Robots have to move more carefully. If a robot were to fall from an elevated surface, it would crash and break. They learned that they should make the robots cat-like, so it can emulate a cat's uncanny ability to calculate the best landing angle. They still have to give the robots joints that can twist or flip their bodies to stick the landing regardless of the angle.
Robots can be fragile and expensive, so if it were to fall over it needs a way to land safely. These robots can calculate the best landing angle, but they don't yet have joints that allow them to twist and land. Colin
