A nonlinear controller in used to balance the cubli on its corners. The cubli can balance on its corner while rejecting disturbances, rotate while balancing, and balance on its edge. It goes from resting to balancing because the momentum wheels can rotate at a very high angular velocities and build up sufficient angular momentum. A rapid rapid breaking up of the wheel alows it to go from a resting positions to a balancing position. The cube is sued for planetary exploration.
ReplyDeleteThe reaction wheels move at certain speeds to keep it balanced. The cube can balance on its point, on its side, and walk. The wheel stops abruptly, jolting the cube onto its side and then speeds up almost instantly to regain balance. Planetary exploration and for fun. Colin
